Late Acharya Yoganand (Dr. S. V. Karandikar)

Late Acharya Yoganand, alias Dr. S. V. Karandikar was a medical graduate from the University of Pune. He, after passing out M.B.B.S. joined the Indian Army in the Medical Corps In 1962.In the year 1966 he started working in the city of Pune as a family physician. He continued this work till 1996. He had undergone extensive training in the ‘Science of Yoga’ from 1978 to 1993. His guru Padmabhushan Yogacharya BKS Iyengar inspired him to start Yoga therapy project at Kabir Baug Sanstha in 1989. His relentless dedication, sincere efforts to blend his knowledge of the Modern Medical Science with the traditional Science of Yoga for the last thirty-two years has emerged fruitful Sun-Jeevan Yoga therapy project has acquired name and fame, not only all over the state of Maharashtra but all over India and abroad.

YogaVidnyan Vachaspati Acharya Yoganand Late Dr. S.V.Karandikar is founder of Sunjeevan Yoga. Founded in 1989 by the Late Dr. S.V.Karandikar MBBS who is pioneer inventor of Sunjeevan Yoga Treatment, the institute hails a record of successfully treating lakhs of patients over a period of 32 years. Later Dr. S.V. Karandikar had studied and researched in the fields of Modern Allopathy, Ayurveda, and Modern Physics for 32 years. A well versed in these disciplines, he started teaching Sunjeevan Yoga Treatment through Kabir Baug Math Sanstha. In an urge to discover more traditional and effective ways to resolve this, he studied yoga science and developed Sunjeevan Yoga therapy. He developed Sunjeevan Yoga therapy, its principles, and philosophies over a period of 32 years. His Guru Padmabhushan Yogacharya BKS Iyengar inspired him to start Yoga therapy project at Kabir Baug Sanstha in 1989.

The method of teaching Yoga to patients suffering from various diseases is very easy and interesting to follow. Traditional Yoga postures have been modified and made easy to perform with the help of various props like Ropes, Cotton Straps, Pillows, Blankets, and different pieces of furniture.
